Information stored on your device
The app stores the profile information you choose to provide, your explicit preferences and feedback, saved feed history, chat history, selected app settings, and the local state needed by widgets, Share, Messages, notifications, and Live Activities. This information is protected by iOS and remains on your device or in the app's private App Group container.
You can review or change your profile in Your tune. You can erase the app's local profile, history, preferences, and chat data from the app.
On-device AI
Personalized ranking, summaries, chat, image observations, and temporary conversation topics use Apple's on-device technologies. Toond does not send your profile, prompts, chat history, photos, audio, or temporary transcript to a Toond server. Audio is processed in memory and is not saved as an audio file. Temporary Listen context is cleared when you stop or leave the feature.
Location
If you grant permission, the app uses location to find and rank nearby places, provide directions, and optionally trigger nearby notifications. Precise location is not sent to a Toond server. Apple Maps and iOS location services process location under Apple's privacy practices. Background location is optional and can be disabled in the app or iOS Settings.
Public network requests
The app may request public information from Apple Maps, Wikipedia, Google News RSS, official public websites, and source links you choose to open. Those services receive the ordinary network information associated with a request and operate under their own privacy policies. Optional Wikipedia identity lookup sends the name you enter. Public content requests do not include your Toond profile, chat history, audio, photos, or precise location.
Analytics, advertising, and tracking
The app contains no third-party analytics SDK, advertising SDK, or cross-app tracking technology. Contextual commercial examples, when present, are selected locally from bundled content and do not send your profile or location to an advertiser. TestFlight and Apple may process beta installation, session, crash, and feedback information under Apple's terms while you use a beta build.
Sharing
Sharing is initiated by you through iOS. A shared discovery can include its public title, excerpt, source link, and checked date. Toond excludes precise location, place identifiers, and private relevance explanations from its standard discovery share payload. You control the final destination and contents in the system share sheet.
Children
Toond Nearby is not directed to children under 13. Do not enter another person's private information without their permission.
Changes
We may update this policy as the beta evolves. The effective date above identifies the current version.
